MY CHINESE TALK! & Weekend of 5/24-25

SO AHHH ZOMG I HAD MY VERY FIRST TALK LIKE EVER!!

OMG I was like totally freaking out about it because:

1. My householder was W.L.L  and her Chinese is so much better so I’ll probably sound like the gringo that I am

2. I hate listening to myself out load like over the mics

3. Its in front of everyone and I’m still fat like whoa

4. Its in the middle of May so no chance of snow cancelling meeting like my other two talks lol

But yeah. At least my family was there to support haha.

sasldkfjlsadjglshghdflkskaj

Ahem. Whew got that out of my system haha

Well now I feel better about myself

And thankfully I go to Patterson to work in the infirmary over the weekend so I don’t have to see anyone until next week and by then hopefully they’ll have forgotten about this  talk haha

hopefully

So anyways,  Patterson was lovely as always but man, I was super, super tired. Like incredibly so.

I mean, I conked out at like 7, which is super early. I literally watched Diners, Drive ins and Dives for like 5 minutes, then read Legend for like another 5 minutes and I WAS OUT!

And boy was it busy over the weekend! I mean, I won’t go over the details because obviously its HIPAA infirmary stuff but let me just say it was sad.

We had an actively dying patient, a patient recovering from cancer removal, a rectal prolapse, and a digital disimpaction. Not all on the same patient, of course.

(so a rectal prolapse fyi is when your rectum falls out of your anus and it kinda looks like an inverted sock and a digital disimpaction is pretty much you put on a pair of gloves, lube up a finger and dig out fecal matter. How lovely)

But it was just so sad. 🙁

Ah but it is a pleasure to serve in Jehovah’s house.

Oh and the wonderful association of the friends! We had a party at S’s beautiful room, which was an amazing Bethel room if I say so myself and had a lovely time rolling spring rolls and sampling cakes 🙂 And fruit vodka tonics, hehehe

Lovely, lovely

So yeah that is a summary of my weekend

Tomorrow hoefully I will be able to share with you the sad sad story of Memorial Day but it was an enjoyable memorial day haha even though its not a Memorial day, we just always have a Teaneck picnic on that day for some reason.

ok now I have to watch a movie with the sisters lol, dude, I’m like super tired because work is likek terrible haha but I guess that”s why they pay us to do it. Darn training.

🙂

Weekend of 5.17-18.2014

so this is kinda like a continuation of Friday’s Cirque du Soleil post 🙂

Saturday was fun although I woke up with a killer headache, womp womp. 🙁

But I had to go to meeting because I was supposed to go over my talk wednesday (my first!!) with Wang jiemie so I sucked it up but man! The headache got worse so I pretty much was incapacitated during the Watchtower study 🙁 Thankfully Jenny gave me some Advil and that helped with the migraine/headache.

Then i was invited to play basketball with some of the guys in the hall. Which made me worry because

1. i don’t do sports if I can help it, sports scare me.

2. I’ve never played basketball ever. not even in grade school lol

3. when I have to play with other people then I always feel pressured to do well so as to not let them down which brings me back to

4. sports scare me

BUT I’m always trying to get out of my comfort zone and while that has largely been related to food, i.e trying Indian or like a new restaurant, I figured I could give it a try.

That way, I can say I’ve tried it, because its silly if you say you don’t like something before you’ve even tried it, if you know what I mean.

So anyways, basketball.

It actually wasn’t that bad at all! I even managed to get the ball through the netting!!hurray!

And the boys that came are just the sweetest, they don’t even get mad when you mess up which was really impressive. Most people I know are super competitive and they tend to get really really angry when you mess up but nope! Not these boys!

Plus they actually take the time to teach you how to play basketball, not just like, ok this is how you do it and then like go off and play by themselves 🙂 And while they were beasting at the game, because there were people such as myself and the two Wang boys, they were gentle-like, which I also appreciated. 🙂

I’ d recommend them to anyone 🙂

So they were:

L.M, D.H, J.H, A.M, L.H, A.W,V.W <3

I love all of them. They are awesome sauce.

Then we had pizza at the Wangs, which was also super nice as I’ve never really got to hang out with the Wangs and they are super chill. I was suprised by how much I actually understood although speaking is something I still have to work on. Like I understand when I hear it but my brain just isn’t computing the words in my mouth to reply back in Mandarin so maybe with more practice it will get easier.

It was actually my first time EVER hanging out with L.H as well, so I was pretty happy about that as he seems really sweet I’ve just never really spoken with him before which I”ve felt badly about but now I can get that off my chest too so hurray!

So.

OMG Becky got baptized which is like the most amazing feeling in the world!! Like whoa, I actually helped someone dedicate their life to Jehovah, like it doesn’t get any better than this!

The morning started off pretty regular for a Korean Assembly morning in the Lee household which means the girls were up at the crack of dawn to get ready lol, we take forever!!

(Makeup, hair and then going over the outfits over and over again and dress changes and then fiddling with jewelry and helping mom pack lunch and making sure the bags are packed even though they should have been packed the night before lol plus daddy always seems grouchy on the morning of korean assemblies because he just can’t fathom taking that long to get ready lol )

the morning program was really good although I honestly don’t remember much of it because I got super distracted later with something that happened later on that day that I will get to later lol

Actually there was this part that I super appreciated about always being prepared for the ministry whether youre at work or in a MD waiting room and that do be ready we need to have the information in our brain first like we need to read the Bible and meditate and really try to absorb  what the scripture is trying to tell us. And the demos were really nicely done too! This program was all about the Bible being a powerful tool beneficial for all things and it had a really nice part encouraging the youth too 🙂

And finally the baptism talk!! I was o happy to see my darling B standing up there with her sister and whn they answered yes I actually had tears in my eyes, both of them have come so,so far what with opposition from their father to battling school bullying and temptations from boys…etc. So yeah it was an emotional moment.

And while they were going in the water I took like a million pics lol

then during lunch, my parents went home  because they were both feeling a bit under the weather and they were like coughing up a storm lol so they ended up missing the afternoon session which is when the horrible happened and kinda pretty much wiped out everything from my mind.

So the wt study went well, and the interviews went well and then was the second to last talk! Bro JPL is speaking with ease and is lookng comfortable, the two interviews are next with the first brother, a non-Korean learner from wallkill putting on a very good effort to finish his part while recounting a very difficult experience of when his brother passed away (so young at 16! and from a MI!) and he finishes to thunderous applause which is rare for polite Koreans, they usually clap so…politely lol.

Next is the second interview and the sister is halfway finished with her part when the bro next to her bends down for a second and I’m like that werd when BAM! He falls face down onto the floor!!!

O__O

OMG. The crowd is audibly gasps which again is pretty rare for a Korean crowd and OMG every one on stage is running to him. I get up too to run to the back when I see G and her husband running towards the door and a flash of beige is also seen which happens to be Bro. M who is an accupuncturist so I hang on tight because it is so very tight in that back room, I don’t want to crowd. And the stage crew brothers are dragging the fainted brother off because he is super tall and everyone is panicked and OMGOMGOMG.

Yeah, lets just say I wasn’t paying any attention at all to the rest of the program. In fact, I was so shocked and suprised that I kinda blanked out about the rest of the program even before it happened.

Iguess it was about the same for everyone else too though, because as soon as the bro was cleared from the stage, the sister just calmly finished her interview and walked herself off the stage (mad kudos to her, seriously!!) and then poor Bro J looked like a deer in headlights. He just mumbled a sentence that I doubt anyone caught as we were all still in shock and just walked off the stage without even going over the review question.

During the song immediately after, it had to be like the quietest song ever as people were just staring at the door leading to the backstsage waiting for some kind of sign that the brother was ok.

Halfway into the next and closing talk: no sign

Almost over: G and her husband come out and they quietly gather their stuff and leave the auditiorium. Crowd quietly murmurs.

End of last talk: chairman comes up on stage and goes, “I know everyone must be wondering about the brother that fainted earlier. I am pleased to announce he is ok and have gone home.P

Everyone: Thunderous applause and for like a really long time. Like seriously the longest and loudest clapping at a Korean Assembly like ever.

Like I said. way too much excitement for one day. lol

So we quickly clean the basement bathrooms (or atleast my sisters do, I’m socializing bc I’m in Chinese first of all and second of all, I never get to see all these people so I want to make sure I say hello lol) and I end up going to dinner with my sisers and Y, who is kinda like our youngest sister lol

Thai food at Lotus Thai!

Yay

(Ermm yeah, I guess I didn’t take any photos of the food lol)

And it was so lovely getting to hang with my girl LH and her hubby. Love them both, such awesome people!!

So yup. That about sums my weekend. Whew. So hard to type with these nails!

(theyre super cute, black and white polka dot french extensions with pink bows on my ponter and middle <3)

Cirque Du Soleil: Amaluna 5.16.2014 @ Citi Field

Ok so this was an amazing weekend! Superbly amazing, in fact.

so, even  though the weather was horrible on Friday with flood warnings and everything (like legit floods tho, I mean the water on the highways were mid tire deep in places and certain parts of the major deegan expressway literlly looked liked a pond had relocated itself smack in the middle of the highway)  Friday kicked off the weekend with a bang because I went to see Cirque du Soleil’s Amaluna which was pretty awesome.

First, no one executes their routines as flawlessly and seamlessly as CDS like seriously. There is NO LAG TiME at all between performances and the choreography is spot on. All the performers are so fluid in their acts they make it seem so easy but we all know that is far from the truth. I mean, seriously the amount of control in their muscles is unbelievable. Like take the parallel/uneven bars chicks. Their arms (whic were HUGE BTW) do not so much as tremble when they execute their jumps and swings. The couple on the strings (sorry, don’t know the technical names lol but basically is like a string with a small loop in which the performers hook ONE arm in and then proceed to fly across the arena, I know, pretty tight!) as so strong and steady that when they go up supporting their entire body weight on one arm, mind you, they dont even break a sweat. And this is really, really hard stuff. It is literally what the gymnasts does  on the rings in the Olympics except its dancing combined with gymnastics plus they are about 30ft above the floor. AND the gymnasts that I’ve seen always seem to tremble and shake while trying to keep their bodies straight, not that I’m hating on gymnasts (ok, maybe I am, just a little) but still. At least you dont have to support another person’s weight too.

My fav performance was the entire sequence with the aerial lyra, followed by the water bowl, I mean it was all so pretty with the blue ambiance lighting and the twinkly music. Besides I’m a little biased as I”m obsessed with the aerial lyra, ask my sisters, they will confirm lol. But really though, is there anything more lovely than a strong, slender woman dancing and contorting around a suspended hoop? Yeah, I’d be pretty hard pressed to find nd answer as well. but man she’s good, she was able to support her weight with a one arm hang in arched cupids position-waaay cool. flexibility is always very appreciated as well, I/mean can you even fathom doing a head-sit? I can’t even touch my head with my toes, not to mention with my behind lol

Oh and Miranda’s wonderful, wonderful waterbowl contortion act which was mainly inversions-again very cool. AAAAnd guess what? ONE HANDED inversions at that too!!! OMG! I just learned how to do a supported 3 point headstand lol, one handed inversion contortions with position changes are just cray! Miranda was a beast!

And then, lovely Romeo appears with his lovely white french dress shirt what he mercifully removes!! swoon! No joke this guys is built like a marvel comic character! And wow in the blue ambiant lighting with the spotlight hitting them just so, you could see every little perfect muscle, like all the fine muscles in the obliques and his strong latissimus dorsi and all the small muscles in the shoulders and arms, GIGANTIC PECS!! All the ladies were going wild!! Lol And the way he and Miranda see each other, from both sides of the water bowl, like in the Leo Di Caprio/Clair Danes Romeo and Juliet movie first look scene except Miranda was actually in the tank lol The actors actaully looked really in love I was just in awe of the beauty of the whole scene! And then they have like this little moment and I swear I would have fallen in love with  Romeo if I was Miranda too, what with his boyish good looks, his darling hair, amazing body and really sweet actions!! OMGOMGOMG!

And then these fierce Amazon chicks and the cast-a-way boys come on and its pretty amazing. Like all these parallel bars and uneven bar and OMG I can’t even do a single pull up correctly and these chicks are like beasting it, like better than any Olympic gymnasts lol I couldnt wait for intermission to be over with so we could go back to this incredible show!

Then they had this teeterboard act with the lost boys and once again, amazing. They make it look so easy but imagine the strenght and precision it would take to make those jumps, do those somersaults and whatnot and then fall back down precisely on the right spot so’s to launch the other guy into his jump. Wow. Amazing. Then there was a spot of dancing which honestly I didn’t caare much for but maybe if we were sitting more head on we’d have seen what was going on and enjoyed it better.  Oh yeah! There was also this balancing act that had us all holding or breath but once again, you have to be there to see it, feel the heavy silence and tension in the whole arena as thus skinny little asian lady balances like 20 huge sticks on each other!! CRAY!

And then beautiful Romeo is back again for his wonderful Chinese pole act which again is incredible as it takes an almost inhuman strength and control to  just be able to climb a pole with just your hands, trust me, its a workout trying to climb a pole with your whole body. then he does all these tricks and inversions and dead drops HEAD DOWN! Man, this guy’s got guts!

Thena juggling act by the human lizard which was pretty cool, then another aerial performance by the Valkyries which were these three chicks that totally rocked the string-thingy- wow, no words could describe how thrilled i was, and man, the caliber of their tricks was just unbelievable!  The show then ended with a grand finale and while I was sad it was over, it was just so immensely satisfying, it felt like I was hit with an awesome tsunami. It was THAT great.

Couple things I didn’t care for however:

-the music: it was too loud that my ears hurt at times, and honestly it didn’t even match the acts sometimes with them playing like heavy metal for a beautiful flowly performance which would have been better in my opnion had it been accompanied by orchestra music but that might be just me as I dont really like heavy metal like guitar AT ALL. And the singing was sometimes so god-awful I had to put my hands over my ears and once I think I said “shut up, stop singing” lol

-There was a scene with Deeda the nanny of Miranda and the captain of Romeo and the lost boys having kids and I was like, really? I cant imagine what some parents thought.

-Lizard man kinda freaked me out sometimes, like really does he like Miranda or something? because if he does that just gives me the heebie jeebies its so wrong on so many levels.

And that’s about it, I pretty much loved the entire thing! i can’t wait to go to another CDS show! if you have an opportunity to watch AMALUNA, do so immediately. I loved it and my sisters loved it and we wanted it to go on forever we actually bought the photo book and DVD and watched it again on Saturday night as we did our nails and got ready for the Korean Special Assembly Day (last one ever in Korean :()

That’s about it,  I’m going to bed now. Please excuse my horrible typing, I had fake nails on and I can’t be bothered to type perfectly and besides this IPAD mini keyboard is so tiny, I’d mess up a lot anyways. lol

well w/e.

Good night!! 🙂
